Despite having spent the last 50 years hitting dead-ends, having trails go cold, and consistently turning in his badge and gun because he doesn’t play by their rules, Detective William Striker has never solved his toughest case yet, catching the one-legged man that killed his wife in 1974. Having seen the massive criminal and financial success of true-crime podcasts, he has now decided to take his case to platforms like Spotify and Audible.
When we asked Det. Striker about his new podcast he had this to say:
“Most of chasing leads on a case like this is talking to particularly quirky characters, so I thought I could just do that on mic and I’d have a podcast. Plus, I’m getting nowhere. I’m literally no closer to catching the West Bay Ferris Wheel Killer than I was the day I took this case… the day after he blew up the Ferris Wheel at the West Bay Bi-Monthly Fair… The same Ferris wheel my wife was on. I was supposed to be on that ride that day… I stopped at the last second and told my wife to go on without me… I’d been choking a little on a corndog and was worried the difference in elevation might affect my ability to dislodge it… I strongly believe within a few months listeners on the podcast’s subreddit will solve the murder for me.”
