You know they said something crazy, and if they said something crazy enough, they might just get canceled this time.
Is it possible or acceptable to separate the art from the artist?
Because again, they’re a very popular and talented celebrity, but this time they did or said some things that just might not be agreeable to some, if not most, of the general public.
Of course, they still have millions of dollars, but whew boy, they sure stained their reputation.
And when they do issue an apology, it’s probably not going to be issued correctly. It’s likely they won’t apologize fast, profusely, or sincerely enough.
Some of us aren’t sure if we can like them again after a debacle such as this.
Proponents of the idea that this star did something harmful point to the individuals or groups directly or indirectly harmed by what was done. And quite a few people agree that harm is bad.
Some argue that the celebrity’s freedoms of speech and expression are being violated if they are made to face certain consequences, while others dissent that such freedoms don’t protect them from such upshots.
It appears they’ve lost some fans for this one, but some of their fans are sticking by them, and defending them in light of the controversy they have courted.
A portion of their fan base even likes them more, as what they did could be perceived as going against the grain and saying and doing what others are afraid to out of fear of upsetting the status quo.
Not only did the celebrity that initially courted controversy feel the heat, but so have other public figures who chose to make a statement of condemnation or concurrence with the aforementioned controversial stance(s). These third parties might even come under fire for the absence of a statement of support and/or disavowal.
We all saw how that other popular celebrity is now under scrutiny because of that thing they said about this popular celebrity and that thing they did.
