MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – Progressive Insurance is moving on from its famous salesperson mascot Flo, but not without the help of the company’s loyal customers and fans.
With the sponsored campaign #HowShouldFloDie, Progressive will allow fans to decide how Flo will meet her demise.
“Like our world-renowned Name Your Price® tool, which allows customers to find the perfect insurance package for their budget, we’re giving them the power to choose Flo’s death,” said Jeff Charney, Chief Marketing Officer at Progressive. “We believe this will open us up to a brand-new avenue of fan connectivity and value-based interaction.”
Fans simply have to use the campaign’s official hashtag – #HowShouldFloDie – and the most popular post will be turned into a commercial.
“We couldn’t be more excited to see what our fans come up with,” Charney said. “Do you want to have Flo’s face melted off by acid? Or maybe you’d like to watch a pack of wolves feast on her for dinner? It’s completely up to you!”
Charney added that other exciting deaths the marketing team has been considering range from Flo dying slowly of pancreatic cancer to a quick but excitingly dramatic death from an arrow in the heart shot by a scorned Romanian lover.
“Another idea we absolutely loved was to produce a series of short films that chronicle Flo’s debilitating struggle with depression, ultimately ending in a heartwrenching scene where Flo walks onto a cold, desolate beach in the middle of winter, fills her pockets with heavy stones and walks into the ocean, never to be seen again.”
“But if it was me, well…I guess you’ll just have to keep your eyes glued to Twitter.”
In the cutthroat world of insurance advertising, Progressive knows it has to step up its game. Charney believes a multi-faceted campaign to brutally end the life of an iconic mascot is the perfect way to get people talking and, hopefully, thinking about Progressive as a potential provider.
“When I first heard this pitch from our marketing team, I was a little wary,” Charney said. “But then I thought, letting the mob decide how to kill off a beloved advertising character – Now that’s progressive!

Sorry to hear Flo Go but if you are going to do this have the Young guy Snap by the way she treated him sometimes and and drive over her saying that she was Insured.
