Frasier mania continues its iron grip on the United States!
For the 30th year in a row – since the spinoff sitcom debuted all the way through its triumphant resurgence on Paramount+ this year – Frasier is far and away the most popular baby name in the country, for both boy and girls. It seems like no matter where you go these days, you’re going to meet someone named Frasier, a trend that now looks primed to continue for generations to come.
“It’s a great honor to see people treat our sitcom with such reverence,” Frasier actor Kelsey Grammer said. “I’ve spent years meeting these beautiful people, training many of them as part of a Frasier militia deep in the Appalachian Mountains, and I look forward to making our coordinated incursion on vital government institutions soon.”
If the list is expanded to include variations on the name, some version of “Frasier” is found in six of the top ten names on this year’s list – Frasierella, Frasierino, Frasyr, Frazier, Fraysier, and Phrasier all make the list. A convention – FrasierCon, naturally – has also been held since 1995 as an invitation for all Frasiers to congregate, though what happens behind closed doors at these events has been a mystery for decades.
“Who could have imagined the zany antics of two divorced psychiatrist brothers and their father would resonate with so many people?” said David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother Niles. “I have spent many months teaching these devoted members of the Frasier Elite the intricate and deadly dance of hand-to-hand combat using ten-inch blades, and I see the ceaseless dedication and burning fire in their eyes.
These people simply love their comedy.”
Now with a rebooted series, in which Dr. Frasier Crane finds himself back in Boston following the death of his father Martin and attempting to forge a relationship with his estranged son Frederick, there’s no telling how long the Frasier name will remain an American institution.
“We currently estimate there are roughly 35 million Americans with some version of the Frasier name,” said sociologist Martin Emerson. “I must say, these are some truly dedicated individuals. I… I don’t know if I should be saying this, and I might be putting my life in danger just by bringing attention to them, but-“
The phone conversation with Dr. Emerson abruptly cut off, but the evidence is clear: Frasierheads are essential cogs in the machine that is America, and they have the power to bring the world to its knees should they so choose.
“It is a joy to once again return to the character of Lilith,” said Bebe Neuwirth. “I am once again fueled by the strength of this character and the support of millions of Frasiers throughout the world who do anything I command.”
“The Frasier revolution has been building for more than three decades,” added Grammer. “Our time to reshape the world in our image has come.”
